Color blocking: A Quick Guide

Hello there, my fashion lovers! Today’s post is all about color blocking and how to master it like a pro. Color blocking is a trend that can be hard to pull off if you don’t know complimentary colors by hard. But no worries, I am here to help you out! Years ago, I wouldn’t dare to combine blue and green, or purple and yellow! I thought the best way to get dressed was to combined neutral colors with bright and blog ones. Now the story is different. Color blocking is my life! In the posts’ photos I didn’t go all out with the color blocking, but you can see how great the purple shorts go with the yellow accessories.

¡Hola chicas!

Here are some tips for you to rock a color blocking outfit to perfection:

1. Try simple combinations at first

If color blocking if not your go-to trend, try simple colors to combine at first. My recommendations is purple and yellow, navy blue and yellow, or hot pink and yellow. Yes, yellow is one of my favorite colors to wear with this trend.

2. Always look at a color wheel for suggestions

The color wheel will become your best friend. This trick is perfect to know what shades go perfect together.  The best way to take advantage of it, is to look for complimentary colors. My top complimentary color combinations are: navy blue and orange, military green with red accessories, and of course purple and yellow.

3. Challenge yourself by trying on outfits

If you are not sure about two colors that might go together, always try it out! I never though hot pink and orange would look so great together until I tried it on. Challenging yourself will only make you better. Plus, if you don’t feel the combination you can always scratch the outfit off your list.

Remember that how you wear the trends is what make your style. Always try things out and never feel too self-conscious. But if you really want to take this trend to the next level, try color blocking three colors at a time!

I’ve always found it hard to colorblock because I’m someone who loves order and for everything to match. But I love when I buy an outfit and it’s already colorblocked LOL. I might give it a try for the fall season but I dk if my OCD will allow it HAHA I do like your outfit though and think the colors look really cute together 🙂

I love the concept of color blocking and I think it’s a really fun way to dress up. It’s just that you have to see how the color combination works first, if it even works at all.

I love the color block look and it’s so flattering on almost everyone. To your point I think it’s important to know the color wheel to make things simple but starting simple and working from there is a great way to get started.
